Second Day in Belgrade - 19 June

Rented shoddy bicycles (for which we later complained and got a partial refund, because of inside information). Rode up to the northwest area of Belgrade (Austrian area) to shop at markets. Then came back to our area and onto banks of Sava River. Met a Romanian Serb who was a physician on a day off with his bicycle. He is an internationally competitive bicycle racer. He spent the day with us showing us where to ride around a large man made lake on Ada Ciganlija. We talked cultural differences among Balkan peoples versus the rest of Europeans, the war, history, geopolitics, the military. It was wonderfully enlightening, especially for Wendy and her personal journey "back" to the Balkans.

Our doctor friend for the day.

A mechanical water skiing device - - which operated on a pulley system and took skiers around in a circle on the lake. Here a water ski boarder is doing a flip as he is going around.
